A little note about my time at Salford…..
My passion for animal conservation is driven by a profound love for wildlife and a deep concern for the species facing extinction. Growing up I was captivated by the diversity of animals, from their unique behaviours, to their complex habitats, and their varied roles in ecosystems. This fascination established at a young age, sparked a desire to learn more about the challenges facing wildlife and what I could do to make a difference.
I tailored my A-level studies and toured universities, to find the perfect environment to develop my passion. The University of Salford became the perfect location, with experienced researchers leading a Wildlife Conservation with Zoo Biology degree. Very quickly, I was immersed in topics like habitat preservation, species recovery, and animal behaviour.
One of the most impactful experiences during my studies, involved a project focused on complex animal behaviour and understanding how captive environments can significantly impact welfare and breeding. During our studies, we travelled to zoos across the country to evaluate the impacts of education on conservation, highlighting the need to make raising awareness for vulnerable species more accessible.
In July 2021 I graduated with a First Class degree and was certain, that regardless of where my career would take me, I would make a conscious effort to raise awareness of conservation. By sharing stories and raising awareness, we can inspire more people to appreciate and protect the natural world. Whilst I may not be able to change the world, contributing a proportion of the profits from each piece to conservation charities, acts as a reminder that every action — no matter how small — can contribute to the greater good. With each piece of work aiming to fuel a desire within my audience to advocate for policies that safeguard habitats and support sustainable practices, ensuring that future generations can experience the beauty of the wild world. Together we’re making a positive impact on animals’ lives, one step at a time.
